I live in southern WV and have an avacado tree groing in my lving room, can I plant it outdoors? Will it survive the winter?

Avocados – to the best of my knowledge – need warmth, HATE cold/frost/snow/sleet, and don’t like to be either too wet or too dry. So if you have any climatary factors that would prohibit growth, that would be the biggest deciding factor.

Also, be aware that seed-grown avocados don’t always bear fruit, as they need to be cross-pollinated from a fruit-bearing tree in your area (of similar variety), or otherwise professionally grafted which can be costly and not guaranteed.

I grew up near avocado country, fallbrook-california. The tree will not survive any harsh winter conditions. I thought it took 10 years for the tree to mature to fruit-bearing age…thats alot of waiting

go to the market and lay down the cash..for your avocados
