We have PRIVATE flooded green timber available to hunt in this prime waterfowling region. These green tree impoundments are the most easily accessible for anyone regardless of age or ability.
The rice fields that we hunt in are flooded with ankle-deep to knee-deep water. All of our fields are set up with 16' pit blinds buried in the ground and camoflauged with natural cover to hide the pits. Wintering waterfowl love to eat the rice that the combines miss because the grain is high in carbohydrates that they use for fuel in their migration. We're talking about mallards and pintails RIGHT IN YOUR FACE. This is not for the weak at heart!
Natural sloughs are excellent roosting sites and also make an excellent fuel stop for ducks before they're pushed out by inclement weather. Some of these sloughs contain dying or dead timber and buck brush, making it the perfect ecosystem, especially for wintering mallards.
